A Letter to the Community

Dear ScaleHealth Family,

2021, what a year!

This year, like last year, has been filled with a multitude of unexpected twists, turns, pivots, and opportunities. Not just in our jobs and careers but in our personal lives as well. Each day we’re inundated with demands on our time and attention.

With all of that said, I want to take the time to write this letter and detail the ScaleHealth approach for accelerating positive impact for healthcare in 2022.

Our vision at ScaleHealth has always been to ensure that everyone around the world has access to the innovation that they need to live their healthiest lives.

Within that vision, we aim to do two things,

  • To accelerate the best health innovations and startups around the world through our platform called the ScaleHeath Architect. The Architect tracks each startups journey and then connects them with the right advisors, investors, and thought leaders at the right time.
  • For startups that are proven and market ready, we work to implement them with our strategic payer, provider, and strategic partners, leveraging innovation showcases and summits that ensure the quickest and most impactful implementation possible.

Now, I highlighted a few terms that I want to call out because they go to the core of what ScaleHealth does and they’re going to become all the more critical in 2022 as our community continues to grow. Those terms were the Architect, Innovation Showcases, and Summits.

ScaleHealth Architect

Pre-COVID, when ScaleHealth was largely an in-person organization based in Los Angeles, the Architect was an internal tool that our team used to track the stage and needs of each of our companies. Now that Scale has grown to hundreds and hundreds of companies around the world, coupled with the pandemic, manually tracking each one is virtually impossible. The evolution of the Architect has become a central tool that tracks each startup within ScaleHealth but also empowers each of those startups to choose their own adventure – a trail of breadcrumbs, insights, and connections that provides suggestions for which advisors, partners, and services a startup needs to meet with and when. The recent launch of a new feature called “Traction” allows our startup companies to receive evermore relevant and impactful opportunities through the Architect based on their growth and current KPIs.

As we look ahead to next year, the Architect will continue to grow and continue to rely more and more heavily on the KPIs being delivered from each startup. Two particularly amazing features that we’re going to be launching in the near future are:

  • Velocity – A metric that tracks the growth of each startup compared to industry norms, giving that company’s team, and the ScaleHealth team, more insight into the company’s growth and opportunities.
  • Accelerated Introduction – Traditionally, the ScaleHealth team has been in the middle of managing introductions between advisors, investors, and startups which leads to quality introductions but at a slower rate. Now, however, we’re gathering enough data from each startup through Traction that we will soon be able to automate the introduction process, thus radically accelerating the rate of introductions made while still maintaining a high standard of quality connections.

Innovation Showcases

In 2021, we began very consciously bringing together payers, providers, and strategics with our startup companies in a virtual presentation format that seamlessly connects the goals of the health system with the offerings of the startup. The feedback on this structure has been received phenomenally well as it allows our healthcare partners to see 4-5 relevant solutions at once and quickly make a decision on which one they want to speak with. In fact, over the past quarter, we’ve seen 50% of our startups that present in this manner go on to have an extended conversation with the participating partner. Some have already started rolling out pilots and partnerships that are leading to direct impact on communities all across the country and around the world.

In 2022, we’re going to be doing much, much more of this – nearly on a weekly basis – with different types of showcases targeting rural hospitals, large corporations, ScaleHealth advisors, and investors. Some will be private, others will be promoted in advance and open to the public, but in all cases, we will be leaning heavily on the Architect and Traction as a way of determining which startups are ready to participate and take advantage of a potentially game-changing opportunity.

Summits

Similar to Showcases, our Summits in 2021 saw phenomenal growth and attendance with over 100 speakers addressing over 1000 attendees from all around the world. In one particularly exciting moment during our Summer Summit, the White House Vaccinations Coordinator joined us from The White House to share his perspective on vaccinations and COVID-19.

In 2022, we’re looking to continue to increase the impact and value of our Summit’s by delivering high quality content and speakers that share our vision for accelerating the impact of health innovation. However, as we all settle into the new normal of our COVID-adjusted lives and struggle with “Zoom-burnout” we’re going to be switching the model slightly. Rather than four virtual Summits, we’re going to be focusing on two 2-day Summits. One in the Spring and one in the Fall, that will have both virtual and in person elements while still being valuable to our now global ScaleHealth Family.

In Conclusion

As I look back at the 2021, I’m full of appreciation for this amazing team that I have the pleasure of working with each day. Thinking about the past two years and how challenging they’ve been for all of us, thinking about all that we have overcome as a community and, at the same time being able to now type the phrase “global ScaleHealth Family” fills me with an immense sense of pride. Everything that we’ve been able to accomplish is thanks to this amazing team and all of the inspiring innovators, advisors, investors, and partners.

We describe ourselves as a tech company focused on health but really, the core of what we do are the services we provide to our ecosystem. Everything that we do daily, weekly, monthly is to perpetuate our vision and in the end, working to make sure that together, everyone has the opportunity to live their healthiest lives possible. I hope this letter gives you a little sense of how we plan on continuing to strive towards our vision in 2022.

As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any thoughts or questions.

Thank you for being a part of the global ScaleHealth Family and let’s have an amazing 2022!
